Thursday was a beautiful day for an engagement session. We met downtown Minneapolis near St. Anthony Main which is a beautiful place in the fall. The sun stays low in the sky and illuminates the leaves along the river. There are great walking paths, benches and bridges for a more natural look, plus tons of more industrial and urban backgrounds to choose from. For Kevin and Megan we stayed with the more natural settings, which fit with their personality. Read more.. »

I love October. When the sun is out, there is beautiful light all day long. When the sun goes down, there are baseball playoffs. Tonight is game 1 of the World Series. Go Boston!!!

This afternoon I had a chance to work with Dan and Lauren. Last week I met with Lauren and talked about her wedding next June. She is a student at Northwestern College in Roseville and will be getting married at Nazareth Hall on campus. It is an absolutely beautiful place to get married. Read more.. »

Liz and her mom met me at the house this afternoon and showed me the outfits they had chosen for their session. We decided to stay in and around Anoka, so when Liz pulled out a cute little black dress, my mind started racing as to where we could go. Anoka doesn’t have a cathedral with large pillars or other large buildings with classics architectural lines. I wanted something sophisticated and unexpected. Read more.. »

Saturday was a gorgeous day. 17 of the past 19 days have had rain for at least part of the day. Being on location today felt so good.

For Amelia’s session we went to the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. It is a place I’ve been going to for most of my life, but have never thought of it as a portrait location. I love the idea of using familiar places in new ways. Read more.. »

Minneapolis has had 8 inches of rain since the beginning of September, twice the norm. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were rain, rain, rain, nothing but rain. (It feels like good material for a kids book) Read more.. »

John & Marie’s Wedding

Yesterday was simply the perfect day for a wedding. It was a sunny fall day with barely a cloud in the sky, little wind, and since we’ve had our first frost there wasn’t a single bug along the Mississippi.
