Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of working with Annie and her mom Mary. They live on a beautiful lake property west of Minneapolis, the kind of place I could shoot for a week and still have more ideas. What a treat.

I loved the different outfits Annie & Mary had chosen. The colors and styles were perfect, not only coordinating with the look & feel of the setting but with Annie’s strongest features as well. Read more.. »

I loved working with Sam yesterday. This is the first time I’ve worked with a dancer and it was AWESOME. Below is just a sample of the 100+ dance images that I took. There are so many cool shots. I love how expressive each image is. Its impossible to dance and be shy. The entire body expresses what is happening on the inside and it is such a beautiful thing. Ballet, tap, ballroom, you name it, any chance I get to shoot dance in the future I’ll take it. I’m officially addicted. Read more.. »

OK, so there are so many reasons why I love working with Lisa & Nick. For starters, Nick is a policeman and Lisa likes to go to the gun range with him. No, it isn’t out of obligation or an attempt to reel him in, she likes it and even has her own hand gun. Women & guns, rock on!!

Lately I’ve been fascinated by those tattoo shows on TLC. I love Miami Ink & LA Ink. Nick has some serious ink started on his right arm, which of course has me fascinated. I am totally impressed with the subject matter. It is an outward expression of his inner faith. Its totally cool. Read more.. »

This past weekend was a little crazy with Angela’s senior session on Friday night, a family reunion to shoot on Saturday afternoon and then an engagement session on Saturday evening. On Saturday night I barely remember my head hitting the pillow. There is nothing quite like being tired from doing something you absolutely love to do. Read more.. »

Last night I had the distinct pleasure of working with Allie. The weather was absolutely perfect. I find myself talking about the weather quite often it seems. Maybe its a Minnesota thing? Maybe its because I shoot entirely on location and I’m always at the mercy of the weather? What ever the case, I’m addicted to the late afternoon / early evening light. With Allie’s dark hair and vibrant dress, backlighting her with sunshine brought everything alive in her images. Read more.. »

Last fall I had a great time with Lauren & Dan at their engagement session. Lauren was a student at Northwestern, which is also where we did the engagement session and where the wedding ceremony was held. When we worked together last fall it was one of the last sessions of the season for me. Temps were in the 50s and there were gale force winds coming across the lake creating whitecaps. Still we were able to find some great areas around the campus that kept us out of the wind. Read more.. »
