August 25th, 2008 | Engagement
This evening I had an engagement session with Stephanie & Morgan. It was a perfect night for a portrait session, with temps in the 70s and not a cloud in the sky.
If I had my way, I would shoot in Minneapolis or St. Paul for every session. No matter what I think up I can find something within a 2 mile radius. Its all right there under my fingertips. But, I have kids, family and church right here in Anoka, so for now I’ll appreciate shooting in downtown Minneapolis any time I can get it. Read more.. »

Earlier today I had a session with Brianna. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, which makes for incredible light at the end of the day, but during the middle of the day it can be a challenge. For Brianna it was worth all of the extra thought and work with reflectors & skrim. Read more.. »

On Friday afternoon I worked with Tara, her mom and one of her best friends. We were on the shore of Lake Minnetonka at one of my favorite places to shoot.
Tara has amazing hair. Earlier in the day she had it flat ironed and it looked great straight. As the session progressed, her hair grew, and grew! Check out the earlier images and then look and the ones toward the end of the session. The volume of hair is incredible. I love it! Read more.. »

On Thursday afternoon I worked with Nate and his awesome family. I’ve never in my life heard so much bander going back & forth, especially between Nate’s dad and sister. They are fun to be around and have a great way of making others feel like part of the family, whether they like it or not!!

Most of my clients tell me before their session how nervous they have been all day. Being in front of the camera isn’t the most natural thing we will ever do in our life. What do I do? What if I do it wrong? Did I bring the right clothes? Everyone else looks like a model in their images. Will my images look good too? Since I added a blog to my website about a year ago, only 2 clients have ever modeled before. Care to guess which ones they are? Read more.. »

Yesterday afternoon I worked with the Javorina family. Earlier in August I met with the mom and we talked about the personalities of her kids and the images she wanted to create. Pulling into the driveway I could see the son’s personality coming through. He was shooting hoops and his body language said it all. Mom was right on the money. Then I got to meet their daughter and again, mom nailed it. One was very confident and the other very sweet. Read more.. »

Yesterday afternoon I worked with Logan. We had a great time in the Anoka area. It was a fun mix of places I’ve used in the past as well as new places.
Logan cracks me up. He has a great sense of humor and is totally comfortable in his own skin. If he was ever nervous it sure didn’t show. In many ways Logan and I are wired alike, especially when it comes to humor. I have a list of my favorite movies on my facebook page and I’m willing to bet that Logan and I overlap on most of them, especially when it comes to comedy. Read more.. »

The first weekend in August my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, which is a pretty cool milestone. Each year they spend the first weekend in Grand Marais along the north Shore of Lake Superior to celebrate their anniversary and this year my brother Aaron and his family and my tribe all headed north too.
