On Wednesday afternoon I had a session with Emma. Every session has things that I really like, images that I connect with, images that I know the family will treasure. Still, every year I have a few sessions where everything clicks, everything is exactly what I was going for and the person I’m photographing just hits it out of the ballpark.

Last week I had a session with Cierra. With Cierra, my main focus was her eyes. At her consultation I knew at a first glance that her eyes would photograph well. After bringing up the images on the big screen, I wasn’t disappointed. Absolutely stunning.

A little over a week ago I had a session with Holly. One of the things I love about shooting on location is being spontaneous. For Holly’s session, a natural field was a must (as opposed to a cultivated wheat field). After that, a beach and natural things, as well as something casual in a neighborhood was the direction for the session.

Last Friday I had a session with Brienna in Minneapolis. It was a perfect day, one of the best days of the year, the kind of day we all dream about in January. For Brienna’s session we wanted a little bit of everything.
The beginning of the session was spent along the Mississippi River. I always love the light along the river. Read more.. »
