On Saturday afternoon I had my first winter session, an engagement session with Kristen & Josh. (more on their session very soon!)
This morning as I was waking up I realized that many people don’t realize that I go on location in the winter. That’s right, I shoot outside on location in the Minnesota winter. Last week I had an engagement session with Steve & Catie. A couple years ago I photographed Steve when he graduated from high school. I also did senior images for one of his sisters and wedding images for his other sister. One of my favorite parts of this “job” is getting to know families and watch them as they go through major life events.
On Saturday night I had a great time with the KTIS crew at the TobyMac show. I love shooting concerts, although they do come with some challenges. With every other type of photography that I do, I am able to manipulate the light and come up with something that is really compelling.

Last week I had a session with Emily. For her session we photographed in Stillwater. I love Stillwater because there are so many different options, everything from industrial elements with the lift bridge, to traditional elements with the bed & breakfasts peppered all over the hill.
In October I had the honor of photographing Nicholas & Samantha on the biggest day of their lives….so far. They are both from New Ulm. For me, this was my first time in New Ulm. It was about a 2 hour drive through rural Minnesota and in the middle of October it was a treat.
