Earlier this week I worked with Anna in Minneapolis. Her mom joined us for the shoot. For Anna’s session, the single most important thing on her list was to have some images with a piano. I listened to Anna play a little bit and if I played that well I would want a piano in my images too!
After the piano images we wanted city textures. She didn’t want stone columns, no glass & steel, she wanted things that were more worn, but not grungy either. I had about 6 locations in mind and wouldn’t you know the wind was crazy that day. Winds were out of the west gusting to 30 mph. With beautiful long blonde hair it made the locations I had chosen ahead of time totally impossible. So, I went into improvisation mode. Lets see….strong winds out of the west, 4:00 PM downtown sun making shadows fall SW to NE…hmmm. In the words of Tim Gunn…”make it work!”
What we came up with I really love. And, lets face it, without some encouragement from the elements I never would have found some really cool new places.
Anna was a great sport through it all. We had a ton of fun together and the images are really special.
