In January I had a consultation with Kyle and his mom. Originally we were going to have a session back in the fall. Kyle’s braces were supposed to come off and we were going to do a session with the fall colors. Then the orthodontist said the braces needed to stay on another month, and then another month. By the time everything got squared away we were looking at a winter session. Read more.. »
Earlier today I had a session with Dylan. I’ve had a string of young women that I’ve photographed lately. Photographing a guy was a nice change of pace. Thanks Dylan for helping me mix it up a bit!
Yesterday afternoon I had a session with Katie. This weekend is going to be warm and will likely melt all of our remaining snow. So Katie might have the last of the Tice Photography snow images for this season!
In November I met with Liz and her mom to talk about the approach for Liz’s senior images. The idea was to have winter images in the city. Liz is all about urban things. She loves music, loves travel and loves experiencing new things.
On Sunday afternoon I had a session with Stephanie. Several years ago I got to know her family when I photographed her older sister. It still kills me to think that the youngest of the Peterson girls is reaching the end of high school? Don’t blink!
Yesterday afternoon I had a session with Jenna. We had a perfect winter afternoon for her photo shoot. There was very little wind, fresh snow, and temps in the low 40s. Jennas shoot was a real treat.
How often in the crazy busy life we lead do we come across things that make us stop and go…”cool!” Hopefully you will have a reaction like I did when you view this. I feel like I’m in kindergarten again. How many things do that?
Take a moment to experience something new today. Take a moment to slow down and just look, listen, smell, taste & touch.
Every now and then I stumble into something that stops me dead in my tracks and everything in the world around me comes to a screeching halt. Sometimes it is a musical moment. Sometimes a movie. Sometimes a sound, a texture. And when it is over I blink….pick up my jaw….and think “Wow, I will never have that moment again.” It is a moment when I discover something so amazing that it is etched in my mind forever.
Ever walk into a space and get chills? Every listen to a chord in an orchestral score and it is simply haunting? Some things continue to have that effect time and time again. Those are truly golden things, the images we want around us, the songs we listen to again & again, the people we can’t get enough of, a poem, a tree, a smell…… Beautiful.
This video brings me to that place and I’ll watch it again & again. Enjoy!
Brian

Yesterday afternoon was quite possibly one of the best days of the winter for photography. Early in the morning everything was covered in a thick layer of hoarfrost. Sara’s photoshoot was in the early afternoon and I was hoping the frost would stay around long enough for her images.
This evening is New Years Eve, which means that this will be my last blog entry of 2011. What an amazing year this has been. I am blessed with awesome clients and am still blown away every time the phone rings. A huge thanks to everyone that I’ve worked with this year.
Yesterday afternoon I had a session with Jennifer in Minneapolis. We had an awesome time together. First though I should mention that it was an entourage shoot. Makeup artist Kate Erickson joined us. Jennifer’s roommate Amanda was there for help with wardrobe and moral support.
Last weekend I had a session with the Hoehne family. Actually, it was the Hoehne men. The mom had a birthday coming up, but not just any birthday, it was the big FIVE OOOO. 50 years old is truly something to celebrate.
A week ago I photographed Danielle. She was my last fall HS senior session. It was the first week in November and everything was perfect. In years past we have been under 2 feet of snow. Not this year though. Danielle picked a perfect day.
Mr. Evan is the youngest in his family. 2 years ago I photographed his brother Mitch. Before that I photographed his sister Lauren. Getting to photograph all 3 kids as they graduate has been an honor.
