OK, hands down, Leah and her mom get the award for the most well thought out session of the summer. When we got together for Leah’s consultation, they literally had 12 different directions for the shoot.
I felt like Tim Gunn on Project Runway looking over the designers’ work and saying “make sure to take an editing eye to your work.” Truth is, not everything can be done in 1 session, so to boil things down to those outfits and locations that truly represent who you are is critical.
In Leah’s case, music was the most important part of her life. So, the music wall and piano were a must. We also wanted to make sure that sh could just have fun in one of her favorite dresses, just letting her dynamite personality shine through.
I also have to mention this. Leah’s mom gets 10 gold stars for this one. She and Leah really wanted a grand piano for the session. I didn’t know this, but the Minneapolis Public Library has a practice room with a grand piano that can be reserved! Woo hoo!!! After the music wall we headed there, the piano looked great….now to turn off the nasty classroom lights and raise the shades…. I quickly realized that the lights and shades were COMPUTER CONTROLLED and not a single person in the entire building knew how to operate either. Seriously people, a state of the art building and the most basic operations were completely out of reach. We cut bait and ended up making piano images at their church. Mission accomplished.
Thanks for a great session Leah! Enjoy you sneak peek!

This series of photos takes me back to a few years ago with Lisa. They are just great!
I think of Lisa every time I drive past that wall. She was the first person that I photographed at that wall. Now I only use it if requested. Maybe I should refer to it as “the Lisa”.
Take care Laura,
