On Sunday afternoon I had a session with the Peterson family. Imagine 3 generations at the house for Sunday dinner, the Vikings game playing in the background and all the excitement that goes with it. I’m sure it sounds like so many homes across America on any given Sunday in December.The assignment for the day was to create images of the 3 grandkids, images that capture their personality and that the family will look back on for years to come.
Any time I work with kids, I always allow for more time than I ever think I would need. As much as possible I want them to just be kids and see what comes naturally. Once they are comfortable with me, then the camera comes out. Initially every kid thinks they need to smile & say “cheese!” After about 10 minutes that usually goes away and real expression starts to come through.
