Earlier this week I had a great time working with Samantha, Lonnie and their 2 boys Hank & Cash.  For their session all images that you see below were created in their house or just outside their front door.  Inside the house there was a stairway to the basement with some great light, awesome light in the kitchen, and then some of the mom & baby images were created in the nursery.  As I talk through each session with my clients ahead of time, I always ask if there is anything special about their home that would look good in pictures.  I’m always thinking about interesting architecture or the different ways people decorate their home.  Almost every time people tell me that there isn’t anything special about where they live and no reason to shoot at the house.

I guarantee that every house has something that will look great in pictures because every house has places where the light is perfect.  As a photographer its my job to find that light, put my subjects at ease and just let it happen.

For Sam & Lonnie, we cleared the kitchen furniture out and worked on the wood floor.  The warm wood tones were great!  The nursery had great light too.  What a treat.  Double score!  Now to make sure that I work with the kids when they are happiest, so Sam said to come to the house after naps.

Now, Hank and Cash were awesome.  Cash is just about to take his first steps.  He is mobile, but still pretty unsure, which makes for great expression.  Speaking of expression, Hank was a crazy boy!  I don’t think he has ever seen a camera he hasn’t loved!

Thanks for a great session Sam & Lonnie!  Enjoy the sneak peek.
